Note: If you aren’t able to follow the steps here, you’re probably using the older version of Contacts. Go to add, edit, or delete contacts in old Contacts. Contact us (866)324-3042 for Gmail customer service
- Go to Google Contacts.
- In the bottom right, click Add people

- Type the contact’s name.
- Click Create.
- Add contact information.
- Click Save.
- Go to Google Contacts.
- Click a contact's name.
- In the top right corner, click Edit
.
- Click Save.
- Your contact's Google profile
- Your contact’s work, school, or organization
- Google Maps, if your contact is a business
- Go to Google Contacts.
- Hover your mouse over the contact’s photo or People
, then check the box that shows up.
- To delete multiple contacts at a time, check all the contacts you want to delete.
- In the top right, click Delete
.
- Click Delete.
Merge, restore, or back up contacts
If you have duplicate listings for the same person in Google Contacts, you can merge them.
- Go to Google Contacts.
- On the left, click Find duplicates. If you don’t see Find duplicates, go to merge contacts in old Contacts.
- In the top right, click Merge or Merge all.
If you deleted, synced, imported, or merged contacts in the last 30 days, you can undo those changes.
- Go to Google Contacts.
- Click More
Restore contacts.
- Choose a time to go back to.
- Click Restore.
If you want to back up your Google Contacts or import them into
another email account, you can export your contacts as a CSV or vCard
file.
- Go to the old version of Google Contacts.
- Click More
Export.
- Check the contacts you want to export.
- Select which format you want your contacts in. To back up your contacts, select Google CSV.
- To save your file, click Export.
