If you have contact lists in other email accounts that you want to use in Gmail, you can import them into Google Contacts.Call (866) 324-3042 for Gmail customer service
Import contacts from another email account
- Go to Google Contacts.
- On the left, click More
Import.
- Select the email account where your existing contacts are.
- Click I Agree, Let’s Go!
- Sign in to your email account.
- Click Agree.
- When your import is done, click OK.
Step 1: Export existing Gmail contacts into a CSV file
- To export contacts, go to the old version of Google Contacts.
- In the top left, click More
Export.
- Select which contacts to export.
- "My Contacts" are contacts you’ve created yourself.
- "All contacts" are contacts you’ve created and Other Contacts you’ve emailed.
- Select Google CSV format.
- To save your CSV file, click Export.
- In the top right, click your photo, then click Sign out.
Step 2: Import the CSV file into Google Contacts
- To import your CSV file, go to the old version of Google Contacts.
- In the top left, click More
Import.
- Click Choose File.
- Select your CSV file.
- Click Import.
I can't import contacts
There are a few reasons you may have problems importing your contacts:- You're importing more than 3,000 contacts at a time. If you have more than 3,000 contacts, split them into multiple CSVs before you import them.
- You reached the size or storage limit for Google Contacts.
- You're importing information formatted as a group or distribution list in other email providers, which won't transfer into Google Contacts.
- You're importing information for a contact that's already in your Google Contacts. Instead of creating a new contact for them, the imported information will replace the existing information.
- Your import file has non-Latin or ASCII characters.
