Emails in your inbox are sorted into different categories,
like Primary, Social, Promotions, Updates, and Forums. Categories help you sort
your massages so you don't see all of them at one time. When you open your

Step 1: Choose your Gmail inbox style
- Sign in Gmail.
- In the top right corner, click Settings (gear icon).
- Click Gmail Settings.
- Press the Inbox tab.
- In the “Gmail Inbox type" section, select Default, Important first, Unread first, Starred first, or Priority Inbox or any other one you have already created.
- Click choose other settings, like whether to show importance markers or how to filter mail.
Step 2: Add or remove categories
If you don't see tabs in your Gmail inbox, follow the instruction to turn on inbox categories:- Open Gmail page.
- In the top right, click Settings (Grar icon).
- Click to Configure Gmail inbox.
- Click to check the boxes of the categories you want to use. If you hide any tab, those messages will show in your Primary tab of Gmail.
- Optional: Choose whether you want starred email to show in your Primary tab.
- Click to Save.
Move emails
- Open Google email.
- Drag and drop your emails from one category to another.
